The UEPL project facilitates traffic flow from state capital Chennai to other major cities, economic hubs, and religious centres of Tamil Nadu, and the eastern parts of Kerala. The 72.9-km long toll road, part of NH132 and NH38 (formerly NH45) in Tamil Nadu, runs from Tindivanam to Ulundurpet.

Short-Distance Traffic

Enables work and business travel between urban centres in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Viluppuram, Cuddalore, Pondicherry and Tindivanam.

Medium-Distance Traffic

Links major urban zones like Chennai and those in northern Andhra Pradesh to pilgrimage sites in Madurai, Rameswaram, Kanyakumari and Sabarimala.

Long-Distance Traffic

Manages freight movements of petroleum, oil, lubricant (POL) products, automobile parts, and manufactured components from Chennai port to locations across Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
